mccormickFamDr. Michael P. McCormick, Jr.

Dr. Michael P. McCormick, Jr. received his Bachelor of Arts in Biology from The University of Virginia. He completed his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the Medical College of Virginia School of Dentistry. While in dental school, Dr. McCormick was a member of the Psi-Omega Dental Fraternity. Since finishing dental school, Dr. McCormick has completed countless hours of post-graduate training in cosmetic and other restorative areas, including implant-related procedures as well as other progressive techniques.

Dr. McCormick is a Fellow in the Pierre Fauchard Academy, which is an International Honor Organization, a Fellow in the Virginia Dental Association, a member of the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, and is a former president of the Peninsula Dental Society. Dr. McCormick also has been a part-time clinical instructor at the Medical College of Virginia School of Dentistry for the past 10 years. He has been providing outstanding dental care to his patients on the peninsula since 1997.

Dr. McCormick was a scholarship athlete while attending the University of Virginia and was captain of the wrestling team as a senior. He is very involved in his community as a youth football and wrestling coach. He serves as the college director for the Virginia Duals National Invitational Wrestling Tournament and is an active NCAA Division I wrestling official. In 2011, he was inducted into the NCAA National Wrestling Hall Of Fame

He is married to the former Carrie Marie McCauley from Beltsville, Maryland. They are the proud parents of three boys: Patrick, Cole and Ryan.

Dr. Pamela McDonald was born in Patuxent River, Maryland and was raised in Brandywine, West Virginia after her dad retired from the Navy. She completed her undergraduate training at West Virginia University. After graduating Summa Cum Laude with her Bachelor of Science degree, she then attended West Virginia University School of Dentistry to obtain her graduate training. While completing her dental training, her passion for working with kids prompted her to continue her education and attend a pediatric dentistry specialty program. She completed her two-year residency at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, where she treated children of all ages with a wide array of medical backgrounds. Dr. McDonald received the prestigious Richard C. Pugh achievement award, for outstanding performance on the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry Examination, placing her in the top 3% of all candidates in 2015.

Dr. McDonald is a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the American Dental Association, and the Southeastern Society of Pediatric Dentistry.

In her spare time, Dr. McDonald enjoys spending time outdoors, running, reading, college football (Let's Go Mountaineers!), playing with her pup, Layla, and planning for her upcoming nuptials to Dr. Luke Winter, a pediatric dental resident in Richmond, Virginia.

WexelFamilyDr. Walt Wexel

Dr. Walt Wexel was a Navy brat, born at the Naval Academy and raised throughout the United States and Japan. He was awarded a Bachelor of Science in chemistry at the University of Michigan, then trained with the Army 82nd Airborne. After the war in Vietnam ended, Dr. Wexel went to dental school at the University of Michigan. He left the Navy Dental Corp as a Lt. Commander after doing a General Practice residency in Philadelphia and serving as the Medical/Dental Department Head onboard the USS Mount Whitney in Norfolk. Since he completed his post-graduate orthodontic degree at the University of California San Francisco in 1980, he has practiced orthodontics in his Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Newport News and Hampton offices. Dr. Wexel is an active member of the American, Virginia and Tidewater Dental and Orthodontic Associations and a former president of the Tidewater Association of Orthodontics.

Dr. Wexel married a southern belle, Brenda, and they have raised three daughters – Melanie, Abbey and Anna – who are active in tennis and volleyball. Melanie graduated from MCV, the VCU School of Dentistry in 2004 and joined the Gator Nation at the University of Florida where she received a degree in orthodontics. Dr. Wexel enjoys parenting, tennis, golf, skiing, scuba diving, wind surfing, travel and writing about hybrid politics.
